Potential fangirling

Okay. So. I just rewatched Potential (I could pretend to have a god reason but…), and I thought I’d share some brief, fangirling thoughts. Warning: there is nothing new or thought-provoking behind the cut.
• I adore this episode. Well, I actually adore S7 in general, but this one is definitely close to the top.
• The Spuffy. Dear Lord. The graveyard scene, with the straddling and the concern, and Spike’s face when Buffy says “come at me,” and the Potentials picking up on all the UST? The crypt, with “comfy” and Spike’s total amusement? Also I sort of love how they’re just so in sync the entire episode.
• The Potentials. They’re all bravado and “we can totally get shit done” and at the same time they’re nervous and unsure of themselves. And since they’re all about 14/15, they’re ALL OVER the relationship between Buffy and Spike. Which, if I’m recalling 14 correctly, is just spot on. Because yeah. Other people’s love lives are more entertaining than 99% of all other things.
• Andrew. “I fight on the side of Goku.” “Killing pigs is so wrong. And also hard.” “What if humans shed their skin. Talk about embarrassing.”
• What if instead of killing the vampire, we set it loose on the marching band?
• Buffy’s speech to Amanda about picking on people we like will never cease to amuse me. it also might be the least helpful advice a guidance counselor has ever given.
• DAWN. Oh my God, DAWN.
o “A mace!”
“Yeah, that’s better.”
• Her whole rundown of people who could be the Potential
• The way she handles the news, because of course she’s not ecstatically happy right off the bat. She’s spent seven years getting an up close look at the havoc of being The Slayer.
• She’s such a freaking BAMF (there’s probably a much more eloquent way of putting that).
• The way she immediately steps back and lets Amanda take over.
• Did I mention that she’s a BAMF?
• Xander and Dawn (And also Xander/Dawn, because apparently I ship that now? What is this I don’t even-). That last scene, where they bond over being normal, and they’re both almost in tears? That KILLS me. Seriously. I don’t cry at shows/movies/books very often but that scene does it. Every. Fucking. Time.
This has been a pointless post. Thanks for reading anyway!

Date: 2011-08-12 03:07 am (UTC)Season seven; the more I rewatch,the more I adore Dawn.
Seriously? She's just the bravest. Everything you said above, when she tasers Xander, when she gets into the final fight even though she's probably the weakest there (I don't count Andrew because he's more about atonement than courage)
Man... Endless Dawn love in S7...

Date: 2011-08-12 03:17 am (UTC)BAHA. Andrew never gets old.
Dawn is amazing in S7. That's the season that cemented my love for that girl. Also, the final Xander-Dawn scene is STUNNING. FAVORITE XANDER MOMENT EVER.
And yes, the S/B is a thing of wonder and joy. Clem approves.
