Parks and Rec love

NO FINALE SPOILERS ARE IN THIS POST. But if you want to talk about it in the comments go nuts. I will definitely discuss, giggle, quote, do backflips of fannish glee, etc. But if you have yet to see the last two episodes, don't worry about the content below. But if you haven't seen it yet, stop being on LJ and go watch it! And then come back and join the backflips of glee! On to the post.
I kept seeing things floating around the internet about Parks and Recreation, and how awesome it is, but I mostly ignored them. I'd seen the first couple of episodes and really didn't do anything for me. But in recent weeks I've seen an increase in fannish delight over the show, particularly on my flist. So I decided, "what the heck. I have some time," and a couple weekends ago I watched the five episodes that were up on hulu. AND I AM SO GLAD I DID. I went back and watched all of season 1 and 2 on netflix over the course of a few days, and then I ended up buying all season 3 episodes on itunes. It worked out so that I was caught up just in time to catch last weeks eps in real time.
This is seriously the most adorable show I have ever seen. I watched all of season 3 with a little smile on my face. A smile was the default expression. That alone makes it awesome. But what I really love about it is how sweet it is, and how it's sweet in a way that's not saccharine. It features characters that have their flaws, and their quirks, and their bad moments, but they're all genuinely good people (with the possible exception of Tammy), living a relatively good life. And I still want to watch more. My desire to have more and more P&R isn't coming from a desire to find out what happens next. It's a desire to watch likable, relatable people living their everyday lives. And I'm happy at the end of every episode. Not in a what a great wrap up! sort of way, but happy as a state of emotion sort of way. And that's kind of amazing for tv these days.
I could go on for several more paragraphs gushing about all the characters and how much I love them, or how April and Andy are rapidly moving up the list of my favorite married TV couple, or the adorable squared times infinity that is Leslie/Ben. But I won't. Because it's insanely late at night and my brain will just spit out something like this: and then, and then, and then this happened and I was rolling around with laughter, and this thing, and then *Jumps up and down flailing arms and yelling about how much I need Donna to pop up in everything I watch and provide appropriate facial expressions.*
On a final non-spoilery note. The finale. Good god. I was smiling so hard in parts of it my face literally hurt. Even with the cliff-hangery stuff, I can't remember the last time a season finale made me feel all warm and fuzzy all the way through.
